These candlesticks are handmade in Tamegroute, a small pottery village at the edge of the Sahara Desert in southern Morocco.

The village has been famous for its distinctive green-glazed ceramics for centuries.

Each piece is shaped by hand on a manual pottery wheel, then fired in traditional underground kilns using wood from local palm trees.

The signature green comes from a natural copper-oxide glaze that reacts differently in each firing, which is why no two pieces are ever identical.

What you'll be holding isn't just a candlestick, it's a piece of living craft tradition.

Set of 3 candlesticks in graduated heights

Material: Natural Moroccan clay with traditional green glaze

Approximate heights: Small 18cm, Medium 24cm, Large 30cm (variations of up to 10% are normal due to the handmade nature)

Each piece is unique with natural variations in colour, texture and glaze coverage

    Fits standard taper candles

    Decorative use only

    1. Clay Collection
Local artisans dig clay from deposits near Tamegroute village.

    2. Hand-Shaping

The clay is cleaned, mixed and left to rest before being shaped by hand on manual pottery wheels. Each candlestick is formed individually.

    3. Sun-Drying
Pieces are left to dry slowly in the Moroccan sun.

    4. Glazing
Once dry, they're dipped in a copper-oxide glaze mixed using a centuries-old recipe.

    5. Kiln Firing
They're stacked carefully in underground wood-fired kilns and fired for several hours. The wood smoke and intense heat cause the glaze to develop its characteristic green tones and natural variations.

    6. Final Inspection
After cooling, each piece is inspected and any excess glaze or rough edges are smoothed by hand.

Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth.

If needed, use a slightly damp cloth but dry immediately.

Do not immerse in water or put in the dishwasher.

The base may have a slightly rough texture, we recommend using felt pads on delicate surfaces.

Keep away from extreme temperature changes.

These are decorative pieces, they're not food-safe.

Handle with care as they are ceramic and can chip or break if dropped.

    • Authentic & Handmade

Each candlestick is made by Rachid, a potter from one of Tamegroute's original eleven families.

He learned this craft from his father, who learned it from his.

No two sets are identical because no two firings are identical.

      That's not a quirk. That's 400 years of one family's hands.

    • Your Guests Will Ask About Them

Everyone who visits will ask about them, and you'll have a story to tell.

As Susan put it: "Everyone asks where I got them when they come over."

    • Full Of Character, Not Factory Sameness

That deep emerald green, the earthy weight in your hand, the way candlelight catches the glaze... it uplifts any room.

Julie said it perfectly: "They add so much character to my room."

    • Arrives Fast, Intact, Exactly as You Hoped

      We know the fear:

      What if it arrives broken?
What if it looks nothing like the photos?

      We've removed that anxiety.

Shipped from Morocco in 4-6 days, fully tracked, triple-packaged for protection.

And if anything goes wrong, we replace it immediately. No questions asked.

    • Supports Real Artisans

Each purchase supports one of the 11 families keeping this craft alive.

When you buy mass-made, you feed a corporation.

When you buy this, a specific artisan in Tamegroute gets paid fairly for their work.

Without buyers for the real thing, the young people don't learn.

The craft dies.. not because the families stopped caring, but because the fakes won.

      That's the difference.

    • Even More Beautiful In Person

The emerald green you see in photos? It's deeper in real life.

The way light catches the glaze, the subtle shifts from jade to olive... your screen can't capture it.

      Here's what we do differently

      Old-Moroccan Craft. UK-Level Certainty.

We don't choose pieces for uniformity.

      We choose them for soul.

The ones where the glaze moved beautifully, where the maker's hand is most visible.

The glaze reacts differently in each firing, so the green may shift slightly from piece to piece.

Some deeper emerald, some softer olive.

It's subtle. Unless you're comparing two side by side, you won't notice.

      And that variation?

It's your guarantee this was made by hand, not stamped out in a factory.

4-6 days from Morocco to your door.

Fully tracked. No "lost in customs" nightmare.

The price you see is the price you pay.

We cover duties, VAT, import charges, all of it.

      No Royal Mail ransom notes.

      Triple-packed. Inspected. Insured.

If it arrives damaged, we send a replacement immediately.

Or full refund. Your choice. No hassle.

      • "I cannot tell you how many compliments I've gotten on these. Every single dinner guest asks about them. They're proper conversation starters, people want to know the story, where they came from, how old the tradition is. I love having something interesting to talk about!"

        Ruth T., Berkshire

      • "I was a bit anxious about breakage given they're ceramics, but the seller clearly knows what they're doing with packaging. he quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding and you can tell they're authentic. Will be back for more pieces."

        Joane O., Oxfordshire

      • "Bought these for my sister-in-law's new house and I have to admit I felt a bit smug handing them over. Everyone else brought wine or generic homeware and I showed up with these. She was absolutely thrilled couldn't stop raving about them."

        Magda H., London

A Gift That Makes You Look Good

Everyone else brings wine or a scented candle.

You arrive with something they'll actually keep.

Something they'll style on their mantelpiece that same evening.

Something they'll still be using, and thinking of you, in ten years.

That's the difference between a gift and a gift they remember.

Try it for 30 days. We'll take the risk.

        We understand.

You've been burned before by "handmade" that wasn't.

Or beautiful photos that didn't match what arrived.

        You're right to be careful.

That's why you get 30 days to decide.

Not happy? Full refund. No questions.

But here's what happens in reality:

97% of customers say it's "better than expected."

Less than 2% breakage rate (and we replace those free, immediately).

Try it risk-free. You deserve that peace of mind.

          Your Questions Answered

          Really handmade. Really Morocco.

Each piece is thrown by hand in Tamegroute.

You'll see the maker's fingerprints in the clay.

          Oven marks on the base.

          Natural variation in every glaze.

If it were factory-made, every piece would look identical.

          These don't.

          We triple-pack every set.

Breakages are rare (under 2% of orders).

          But if it happens:

We send a free replacement immediately.

Or full refund. Your choice. No questions asked.

          No.

The price you see is the price you pay.

We handle all duties, VAT, and import charges.

          No surprise bills. Guaranteed.

4 to 6 working days from Morocco to your UK address.

Fully tracked from the moment it leaves the workshop.

Ordering for a gift? We'll make sure it arrives on time.

Our photos show the real thing.

          No filters. No Photoshop perfection.

But if what arrives doesn't feel right, for any reason, you have 30 days to return it for a full refund.

Standard taper candles, the kind you find at any supermarket or homeware shop.

          These are decorative candlesticks.

          Not tested for food safety.

Hand-wash only. Not dishwasher or microwave safe.

The base is unglazed terracotta (traditional Tamegroute style).

For delicate surfaces, we recommend stick-on felt pads(available at any hardware shop for under £2).

This is common for all handmade pottery.

          No.

The glaze is fired into the clay. It's permanent.

          Tamegroute green is surprisingly versatile.

It works with modern neutrals, coastal blues, warm woods, even Victorian interiors.

The earthy green acts like a natural accent. It grounds a space rather than clashing with it.

Most customers end up ordering more because they realize how well it fits.

          • Arrived perfect, so relieved!

I was really nervous ordering these because I've had fragile things arrive smashed before. I honestly thought at least one would be broken.

But they arrived Saturday morning (I ordered Monday night) and all three were perfect.

The packaging was brilliant. You could tell someone actually cared about them getting here safely.

I needed them for a dinner party on the Saturday so the timing was quite tight, but the tracking kept me updated which helped.

The green is beautiful, actually a bit richer than the photos. I'm really happy with them, no stress at all.

            Margaret H.

          • Exactly what I hoped for

I've been caught out before by things looking amazing in photos then arriving completely different, so I was a bit wary.

But these are just what I wanted. That green colour is stunning, maybe even nicer than the photos. They look beautiful together on my table.

I'm really pleased with them. They look even better in my dining room than I imagined.

            Catherine P.

          • Finally something that doesn't look like everyone else's

I was getting so tired of my house looking nice but feeling like it had no personality. Everything matched but it all felt a bit soulless if I'm honest.

These candlesticks are exactly what I needed. They've got proper weight to them, they feel quality. That green is just gorgeous and earthy, it makes the whole room feel warmer somehow.

My friend came over for dinner last week and she said straight away how much they changed the feel of the table. She's right. The room finally feels like my home, not a showroom.

            Alison J.

          • Everyone asks about them

I've had these for about three weeks now and honestly every single person who's been over has commented on them.

They're on my mantelpiece and that green just catches your eye.

I love being able to tell people they're handmade in a pottery village in southern Morocco. It makes me feel like I've got good taste ha. One of my friends has already asked for the link because she wants to get some for her mum's birthday.

            I'm absolutely delighted with them.

          • Perfect housewarming gift

I bought these as a housewarming present for my sister who's just bought her first proper house. She's got really good taste so I was quite nervous about getting it right, I didn't want to just turn up with another scented candle or something generic.

They were perfect. I was genuinely relieved when I gave them to her and saw her face, she absolutely loved them.

She's already got them out on her dining table, she sent me a photo that evening and they look gorgeous with candles in.

            Rachel T.

          • Genuine craftsmanship

I'm trying to be much more conscious about where I spend my money. So much of what's sold as "handmade" these days is just mass-produced with clever marketing.

These are definitely the real thing. You can tell when you hold them, they've got proper weight and you can feel they're genuinely handcrafted.

I like knowing my money is supporting real craftspeople keeping traditional skills alive. And they're beautiful as well which is a bonus.
