Piece Story
Piece Story
These candlesticks are handmade in Tamegroute, a small pottery village at the edge of the Sahara Desert in southern Morocco.
The village has been famous for its distinctive green-glazed ceramics for centuries.
Each piece is shaped by hand on a manual pottery wheel, then fired in traditional underground kilns using wood from local palm trees.
The signature green comes from a natural copper-oxide glaze that reacts differently in each firing, which is why no two pieces are ever identical.
What you'll be holding isn't just a candlestick, it's a piece of living craft tradition.

How it's Made
How it's Made
1. Clay Collection
Local artisans dig clay from deposits near Tamegroute village.
2. Hand-Shaping
The clay is cleaned, mixed and left to rest before being shaped by hand on manual pottery wheels. Each candlestick is formed individually.
3. Sun-Drying
Pieces are left to dry slowly in the Moroccan sun.
4. Glazing
Once dry, they're dipped in a copper-oxide glaze mixed using a centuries-old recipe.
5. Kiln Firing
They're stacked carefully in underground wood-fired kilns and fired for several hours. The wood smoke and intense heat cause the glaze to develop its characteristic green tones and natural variations.
6. Final Inspection
After cooling, each piece is inspected and any excess glaze or rough edges are smoothed by hand.

Why You'll Love This Set
Here's what we do differently
Old-Moroccan Craft. UK-Level Certainty.
We Curate For Character
We Curate For Character
We don't choose pieces for uniformity.
We choose them for soul.
The ones where the glaze moved beautifully, where the maker's hand is most visible.
Honest About What to Expect
Honest About What to Expect
The glaze reacts differently in each firing, so the green may shift slightly from piece to piece.
Some deeper emerald, some softer olive.
It's subtle. Unless you're comparing two side by side, you won't notice.
And that variation?
It's your guarantee this was made by hand, not stamped out in a factory.

These look beautiful, but will they look out of place in my home?
Tamegroute green is surprisingly versatile.
It works with modern neutrals, coastal blues, warm woods, even Victorian interiors.
The earthy green acts like a natural accent. It grounds a space rather than clashing with it.
Most customers end up ordering more because they realize how well it fits.
